Leaves in the Stream, Under the Stars

There were a number of interesting trade-offs involved in pulling off this shot, but nothing in it was faked or added in Photoshop.  The leaves, the star reflections: all recorded on the digital sensor.  It has the 16:9 shape because I'm creating a time-lapse movie from the individual exposures!

  1. +Ellie Hayes and +Mo Chen, I live in the Eastern Sierra region on the California/Nevada border, and this shot, like much of my work from the past couple of years, was taken not far from my home.  I'm documenting many of the exact locations of my shots in a book to be released next year.

  2. I did see one of the videos you posted and will study the second in a moment. Shame on me for not commenting before. Fantastic. I had some truly minor editing comments, but feel a little stupid mentioning it as the they are most wonderful ((I found the choppy water to be a bit distracting at the opening of the first, and the contrast was slack (and probably accurate) in that bit)). Very nice work and thanks for sharing. I'm sorry you had to wait so long to get the 'perfect musical accompaniment', but the result speaks for itself. It works very well.

  3. Thanks +R. Brooke Fox, I have to admit that I almost always have reservations about various details, so I consider them more "previews" of potential than finished works.  Time is my biggest challenge at the moment, so I have to avoid putting too much effort into images (at least before their revenue potential arrives).

  4. Wait 'til you see the video +Wes Lum!
I had it almost finished and set to music (a previously unreleased track), but lost what I had done so far in a crash of Adobe Premiere, and I hadn't saved the project yet. I decided to go collect more footage and redo that project around a particular geographical theme. Hopefully I'll have the new footage to complete it shortly.
