Topaz Lake Sunset Cloud Reflection

We're starting to enter that time of year here in the Eastern Sierra when storms are more frequent, and the wind on the lakes calms down so you can get interesting reflections.

I've shot a lot of images during the past 24 hours which will eventually be converted to time-lapse video.  At the moment however I'm installing applications and data on a new laptop computer.  My prior one had lost too much disk space when Windows 7 failed to restore open space after a folder and file delete.  Windows 8 still has that problem.  I'm not even done installing software to use the new machine, and it already lost at least 73GB.  I was needing to move lots of data on and off… to replace a 2TB disk drive which Windows 7 corrupted.  It refused to "Safely Remove and Eject" another drive, and in those cases I have to "Hibernate" the laptop so I disconnect the drive at all without killing all the apps and tasks I have in progress.  The major problem with that approach is that if you connect a new drive too soon, Windows will write the file and folder directory from the old disk right on top of the file directory on the new drive, completely destroying your access to its contents.  What brilliant Microsoft engineer decided to do that without reading the drive first to see if it was the same one?  Incredible.  Of course I only switch drives like that since I can't seem to connect two USB 3.0 drives at once to simply copy from one to the other (I've tried renaming the drives, etc.).

So one missing feature leads me to find one massive Windows bug, which leads me to run into another huge one… and I spend weeks trying to recover, and over time I have to upgrade hardware needlessly as Windows degrades it.  My next laptop will probably be a Mac.
