Winter Sunset at Mono Lake

These calm conditions are common in the Winter at Mono Lake. It was a calm day in the Eastern Sierra yesterday, so I checked the Mono Lake Committee Web cam for confirmation then headed down there to catch the typical orange-pink sunset light rising up off the horizon as the shadow of the earth brings the transition from day to night.

  1. I have been interested in photography since highschool when I took a photography class. I absolutely love your work. If I were to start what is the best camera to start with for a beginner. I want one with that will catch action fast and capture excellent color but I can't spend over $1000. Would you mind recommending a camera that would best be suited for me. Your work just ignited me with excitement! What a wonderful life you have! To be free to pursue your dream and make a living as well. Thank you so much. Margie
