Rays of Light in Antelope Canyon

It's been a couple of years since +Lori Hibbett and I visited this amazing place, but we hope to be able to return here again this year, this time with wider-angle lenses!.

Light rays enter a slot canyon in Northern Arizona.

I went there many years ago, before it became such a popular attraction.  I had to ask around in town for a guide that could take me there.  I was allowed three hours in the canyon with only two other photographers.   And this was at noon in summer, the only time to capture shafts of light!  Now it is a bustling tourist attraction with bus loads of people visiting.  I guess we can thank the Internet and sites like Flickr for that.

    I captured the shaft of light on medium format film.  It was a 45 second exposure to accommodate the reciprocity failure of film.  I like the older images of the canyon because of the blue shift of film, it makes for a more colorful (but unrealistic) image.  🙂
