At last report this fire set by lightning yesterday was 5000 acres and 4 miles from Bodie, and 194 people were fighting it. With thunderstorms in the forecast, the 25MPH winds driving the fire yesterday afternoon could return. Hopefully the rain showers forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon will pass this way and knock it down.

So far I'm counting on our workshop scheduled for this Saturday night to still be on!

In the foreground is Bodie State Historic Park just north of Mono Lake, California +Jennifer Beck. The fire over the hill is near the old mining town (site) of Aurora, Nevada.
Man I hope it doesn't reach Bodie, that would be a true tragedy.
Wow! How very sad. Another spectacular area under siege from wildfires. This has been such a tragic year for our western landscapes. Praying that they'll be able to get it controlled soon.
Bodie is a maintained ghost town in California, on the eastern side of the Sierras.
Yikes.
Oh, bad news :-O
Hope for favorable winds and firefighting conditions.
:( Hope everyone stays safe and Bodie stays safe, and anyone who lives in area has their home spared.
Never made it to Bodie when I lived in Mammoth but would be awful if anything happened. Fingers crossed and stay safe to the fire crews out there.
woah not good. Best of luck for any case here, really hope I get to visit it again.
