Last Bodie Workshop for 2013
On October 12 and 13 we'll hit the 10 workshop mark at Bodie State Historic Park! We've been incredibly lucky this year with "Goldilocks " weather… just right each time, often with clouds which threaten a storm (or deliver a brief shower with rainbows), then clearing skies for stunning stars. Even the Rim Fire seemed to send smoke on either side of us, leaving just a thin layer of smoke overhead to catch moon beams (lunar crepuscular rays) as the moon was rising, without interfering with the rest of the night. The last date we have is a dual session… night shooting Saturday, Oct 12 6pm – 1 am followed by dawn and interiors Sunday October 13, 6 am – noon. We get a slight break on the fees for holding the two back to back, so I'm passing that on at $295 for either session (normally $325), or $545 for both.
On this night sunset is 6:21 pm, and the sun will be dropping behind the nearby hills as we arrive. We'll enjoy a nice 50% full moon illuminating town nicely for our entire Bodie session (not to bright for light painting and star trails), then it drops behind nearby hills as we're leaving. With a relatively early sunset, this date offers the most night hours after twilight of our year, from roughly 8 pm – 1 am.
