Sand dunes are one of the subjects I’m quickest to convert to black and white, probably because my compositions in sand dunes are often all about the light, shapes, lines and patterns, and black and white takes away other distractions.

Morning in the Dunes

I find myself producing more and more black and white images over time. Our eyes are drawn to brightness & contrast, and our gaze follows edges/lines. Black and white can help focus our attention on lines, shapes and light.
