Nicely done +Jeff Sullivan. I'm planning a trip to the ancient forest myself next week.
Awesome! Did you light paint the tree?
Beautiful!
Amazing. Looks great.
Is the road open +Keith Cuddeback? Often it doesn't until Memorial Day or so. It's snowing pretty hard down to 6000 feet or so in the Eastern Sierra today (at least here neat the northern edge of Mono County), and another storm is coming next week…
Yes +Gary Harris, I think that I first shot this tree at night in 2009, and I've been trying different light painting approaches ever since. This is my favorite result so far.
This tree stars in one of my night time-lapse videos from 2009, covering the Perseid meteor shower: Perseid Meteor Shower
Beautiful ~
I'd love to know how you do this. Looks spectacular +Jeff Sullivan.
que hermosura
It looks like a portal!
Teaching people how to do this is what I do +Champion Freight. The next class is coming up May 3 in the "ghost town" of Bodie, California: http://www.jeffsullivanphotography.com/blog/bodie-night-photography-workshops/

so cool your awesome
It looks like a beautiful Van Gogh. Thanks dear Jeff for sharing your great work. I simply love your California photos. ♥
nice
very beautiful
Beautiful work Jeff. It recalls to me one that I took of a similar old Ponderosa Pine tree in our Oregon High Dessert at the Oregon Star Party in 1992, 1993, 1994, & 1995, but mine were only done with my 1973 Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL 35mm camera and Kodak Gold and Ektar films. You have captured much deeper into the sky with new digital techcnology. My best two of the four years, were both published full page in Astronomy Magazine in Sept and Dec 1994. Here is a compilation of all four years just to show more of the "old world", sorry if a pun, "the old world of film" > http://www.dpreview.com/galleries/1579463287/photos/2878995/rob-s-tree-four-years_-panel-v2-crop
This is a really fantastic shot Jeff. What do you think of mine? https://plus.google.com/103481437253855039388/posts/eyv6WzLoviY
Most astro photography captured at the Tropical are like sliding side way, no centre point at all, your's is unique.
