What settings did you use on the 'night sky shots '?
+Peter Heinrich For dark sky nights with no moon, usually 30 seconds at f/2.8, ISO 6400, but that varies a bit from camera to camera. Many Nikons and some Canons do fine closer to ISO 3200.
