– You find a roadside attraction with 40+ cars, most buried nose-down in the ground
– Residents say the owner is in jail for "taking pot shots at people"
– You're light painting this delivery van and find a leg trap on the floor, right next to where you stepped
Welcome to the "International Car Forest of the Last Church".
As the story around town went, the exchange of gunfire was between neighbors. +Lori Hibbett and I live in Nevada, and the occasional eccentricity of some of its residents is part of its charm. We figured we'd probably be fine going back after dark for a little light painting, as long as we weren't mistaken for the neighbor (or as long as the shooter was still in jail). But apparently there had been some vandalism to the cars. Finding the leg trap could indicate that the site was booby trapped, a possibility too creepy for stumbling around in the dark. We decided to call it a night and move on.

Great shot +Jeff Sullivan ! Thank you for sharing the background story!
Das sieht sehr genial aus!
What a crazy story! You've been a bit crazy to walk around there at night? … But the result is cool! …;D
New word for junk yard?
Wow!! Crazy story. Great photo.
Beautiful
awsm
That a pyramid in the background?!
Ich mag Amerika!!
damn jeff. glad your leg wasn't in that trap!
much as I love my state, it is rather fucked.

Yikes that's some story Jeff! This very cool shot is almost worth risking your leg haha but glad you managed to keep it and get the shot too.
+Bryan Hecht It's probably a pile of mine tailings.
You and me both +Scott Bruce. We do have our share of characters, and I do wonder if it's a bit too risky trying to reason out how things might go, when others may "reason" differently (like "shoot first, ask questions later", especially in a state with a "stand your ground" law).
Nice photograph, btw.
Awesome!
Love the shot w/ the great story thx
Yikes, that's a scary tale!!! Great image, too! 🙂
Definitely one of the weirdest situations I've found myself in while pursuing photographs +Susan Kolbasuk. It's the kind of thing you only expect to see in movies (and when you do, you want to yell at the screen, "RUN!")
so wonderful !!!!
I wandered around Nevada when I lived in Vegas. Walked over to lake mead. You feel like you are in a western movie out there.
Hoo
very nice!
