Say Hello to my Little Friend

Isn't he cute?  He was running around the board pretty fast… definitely didn't want to pose for a portrait.  Good thing they can't jump!  At least I don't think so…

Supposedly you can run around looking for these at night with a UV "black light", which makes them a glowing white/violet.  But if they're all around on the ground at night, I might not want to know!  Different species seem to be all around California.  A friend in Napa had tons of them in his log pile.  The highest we've found them so far is around 9000 feet in the Grandview campground in the White Mountains… snuggling up close to us under our tent.

What a fun memory to relive as I get around to breakfast (…looking on the floor for crawly things).  Thanks +Lori Hibbett!

  1. +Elaine Torres  We found a large scorpion spider in our house… apparently related to camel spiders… with little claws on its forelegs, like a scorpion without a tail.  It was not a welcome guest, and it was not let out gracefully like some of the bats we've caught inside.
