From The Early Days of G+

Jeff Sullivan photography workshops

This album first shared on August 11, 2011 only received 51 +1s, but it had 58 shares! Now an album is lucky to get 1/4 of the distribution of a photo post, and photo posts do not get full distribution to your contacts who opted in to see them.

The site seemed to be much more interesting under the original algorithms. Perhaps human brain chemistry favors the unexpected, the pleasant surprise which is more likely to come form people NOT related to you as a previous friend? That would be terribly inconvenient for a network being designed to determine and mainly distribute content to your friends and social connections that they feel you can market to.

  1. The album is great .
Unfortunately it wasn't possible to check with all of this huge number of nice captures.

You're so right about the general point in this post . Hopefully, Google make it better each month.

  2. +Christian Albers Although I used "HDR" software, it was often in the Batch->Average mode offered in the Photomatix software by +HDRsoft, so I often recovered highlights and shadow detail without the distracting effects of tone mapping. In other words, I was achieving the higher dynamic range that HDR is intended to deliver.

  3. Fabulous images, wouldn't it be fun to stand behind the eyes of photographer, and listen to their brainwaves as they frame their shots. There's a vantage point we'll never get to experience, just their moment'a time as seen I their end work…
