It turned out when we arrived at Glacier in September 2015 that the recent wildfire that had just occurred near St. Mary Lake still had most turnouts and trails closed. Even the place on the east side with great pies was closed. Fall in Grand Teton (and then Colorado) was looking better, so no time to post-process! Unfortunately the oil pump on my SUV failed just south of Jackson, the engine seized, we were towed to Salt Lake City, and took a rental van back home. We scrapped plans to continue on to Colorado fall colors, and had to deal with the stranded SUV before fall workshops started.
This album on Google Photos contains photos from this road trip in September 2015, to Mount Rainier and Port Townsend Washington, across to Lake Louise, then down the Rockies to Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The album was originally posted on Google+, which had good album sharing features. We were travelling so fast there wasn’t much time to post-process as we went, and I haven’t had time to go back and work on the photos. I just found the image above in April 2019!

Wow 👍… Thank you for the beautiful pictures 👌
Nice 🌷
Did about half that trip with my parents back when I was about 10. We left from Portland and headed east. Missed Yellowstone, but the rest of the trip was nearly identical.
Just after entering Glacier NP, the front windshield got smacked by a hardball. Since it was the 2nd of July, and a Friday, everything in the region was closed for the weekend. So we drove over 'Going to the Sun' highway, and onto an unexpected side trip to Calgary to get the window fixed. We couldn't drive more than about 40 mph, or the air pressure on the already cracked glass would make more cracks.
That was an very long and boring ride over the plains of Alberta. since we hadn't planned on going to Calgary, we didn't know the Stampede was going on (that was a bit of a hassle driving past the grounds). But downtown Calgary was nice. The repair shop got the window replaced in short order and sent us on our way.
This is very interrsting,,,,!!!! Andrzej 🌹

A stunning collection +Jeff Sullivan
+Lawrence Sauter Thanks. I Can't wait to show the rest of the trip; I'm mostly working on the photos from the back forward.
+Jeff Sullivan I am straight-up envious (actually, that envy is quickly morphing into good ol' fashioned jealousy) of your road trip ! For real though, ONLY 3500 miles ??? …. or perhaps underneath this ambitiously adventurous public persona of yours is just a notorious underachiever, huh ?! lol … just jokes, my friend, jokes …
In all seriousness, you must be riding high after such an utterly remarkable accomplishment. What a euphoric, inspirational and life affirming experience it must have been. An epic road trip among some of Planet Earth's finest, most beautiful, amazing (& only slightly belittling) glacially crafted granite giants rising from endless stretches of evergreen forests dotted with the coldest, purest lakes & streams …. simply awesome Jeff.
Clearly, this is one of those times where words only fail and pictures bring everything to life, especially yours. I believe sincere Congratulations are in order !
You sir, have the epitome of THE Dream Job. I can only thank you for sharing your incredibly beautiful photos as well as stoking the internal fire to travel, experience and truly LIVE.
