From a visit to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks (and complete circular lap of the Sierra Nevada) I too with my kids in late June, 2011. I'm working on this section for my book.
That was a heavy snowpack and runoff year. I don't think we'll see many scenes like this in 2013!

I'd love to float down that river on my belly, butt naked lol – what a vacation that would be. All I ever see is SEO work, I'm worked to death.
The photo is great I could imagine snow white & the seven dwarfs being there perhaps time for another story to be told.

2011 was off the hook! Yeah, that's a powerful scene and a bit spooky.

+Jeff Sullivan Have you done the Rae Lakes loop yet? (In Kings Canyon)
very beautiful!
cool
lovely shot
Water looks way to clear for it to be flowing over its normal course.
Great work Jeff

+Esteban Jaramillo It's in Kings Canyon National Park, directly east of Fresno, California. Kings Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in North America with a maximum depth of 8,200 feet.
+Taylor Blakslee I love Rae Lakes. I visited there in 2010 from the Onion Valley trailhead in the Eastern Sierra, crossing Kearsarge Pass and Glenn Pass both ways (four times) in 5 days. The air gets a little thin at nearly 12,000 feet when you're carrying a backpack!
Rae Lakes and Kearsarge Lakes will be covered in my guide to landscape photography locations in Southern California. I'm working on the Kings Canyon/Sequoia section today!
