Spring Runoff 2011: South Fork Kings River

From a visit to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks (and complete circular lap of the Sierra Nevada) I too with my kids in late June, 2011.  I'm working on this section for my book.

That was a heavy snowpack and runoff year.  I don't think we'll see many scenes like this in 2013!

  1. +Taylor Blakslee I love Rae Lakes.  I visited there in 2010 from the Onion Valley trailhead in the Eastern Sierra, crossing Kearsarge Pass and Glenn Pass both ways (four times) in 5 days.  The air gets a little thin at nearly 12,000 feet when you're carrying a backpack!
Rae Lakes and Kearsarge Lakes will be covered in my guide to landscape photography locations in Southern California.  I'm working on the Kings Canyon/Sequoia section today!
