Moon Beams Over Bodie

There was a very light layer of smoke from Yosemite's Rim Fire drifting over Bodie State Historic Park during the night photography workshop on Saturday.  It was just enough to pick up the light of the moon shooting through some low clouds.  I only had time for a couple of compositions before the cloud and the moon beams passed.

I produce enough photographs that I rarely re-post images, but when I shared this last Summer it was via the +Bodie Photo Workshops  page, so I'm uploading a copy here to the albums associated with my main G+ photostream as well.   Hopefully we'll get 2014 dates soon so we can announce our next night and interior photo workshops at bodie: http://www.jeffsullivanphotography.com/blog/bodie-night-photography-workshops/

I'm considering this as one of my Best Photos of 2013.  I'm too biased to determine which are the "best", so let's just say that the ones I'm considering are some of my personal favorite moments of the year:

  2. +Cory Smart Yes, I've uploaded about 35 photos so far over to an album on the +Bodie Photo Workshops  page: https://plus.google.com/photos/116719515450184310739/albums/5952530843682240881
From the workshops I mainly upload new shots plus perhaps a church star trails shot to illustrate what it looks like from that night, with that light painting, after processing.  Night involves more assistance and less shooting for +Lori Hibbett and I, and since we've done more night workshops, the few results we do get (typically to confirm exposure in a given direction with the exact amount of moonlight on that night) are less likely to be unique.  We've only held a few interior workshops and we managed to get into more and new buildings this time, so more of those shots are new.  I was hunting new objects and compositions, so I was mainly running around catching a few quick shots hand-held.
