Jeff Sullivan
Co-founder
Jeff is an international award-winning photographer whose work has been published in National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer, Sky and Telescope, and Nature, among others. He started his career in digital imaging with a degree in computer science and working in the Graphic Printing and Imaging Division at Tektronix. This gave him an in-depth knowledge of the entire photography process, from sensors through post-processing and printing. Winner of the 2011 International Astronomy Photographer of the Year “People and Space” special prize by the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, his Web site is ranked as a Top 30 Astrophotography Blog. Jeff wrote the book on landscape photography in California: “Photographing California Vol. 2 – South” (320 pages) and has been named a Top 100 Travel Photographer in the World.
Jeff started with 35mm darkroom photogrpahy in 1974 and began teaching photography in 2007. He enjoys all aspects of outdoor photography, from travel and wildlife to recreation and sports. He particularly likes helping people find new places and learn new techniques, giving them an expanded portfolio of skills to help them achieve their goals. In his free time, he’s a dark sky advocate and avid time-lapse astrophotographer.
Lori Hibbett
Co-founder
A photographer all her life, Lori began teaching photography with co-founder, Jeff Sullivan, in 2012. She has been named one of the top 100 female photographers and been published in Outdoor Photographer, Random House, and numerous other publications. She is also a dark sky advocate.
Lori first fell in love with photography when she was an instructor for wilderness survival expeditions in the Sierra Nevada mountains, which she helped lead with survival expert Ron Hood for ten years. She enjoys exploring the wilderness and finding new, beautiful locations to photograph. She obtained a degree in Business Management and worked primarily in various accounting management roles and guardianships before switching to teaching photography fulltime. She enjoys not just teaching photography but also teaching about the night sky, plants, animals, and various other survival-related topics. She excels at breaking down complex concepts into easy-to-understand language.
When she’s not on the road, you can find her at home, tending her garden and caring for her goats and chickens.
